Rebel Voices ~ CultureProject

Last night I had the extreme pleasure of attending the opening night performance of Rebel Voices directed by Will Pomerantz & Rob Urbinati.

This show was an incredible live performance of author activist Howard Zinn and Anthony Arnove’s book Voices of the People’s History of the United States. This book is a series of stories and recollections from key leaders throughout the history of the U.S. Featured sections of the book were orations from people such as American abolitionist, Frederick Douglass through an incredible speech by Cindy Sheehan, mother of Casey Sheehan (fallen soldier from the Iraq war).

I have long been a fan of Howard Zinn’s work, particularly his book You Can’t Be Neutral on a Moving Train. This production of some of his research and writing was so awe inspiring and moving it made me want to leave and do whatever I could to change the world.

I highly recommend that anyone see this show if they are in the New York City area. The show is being produced by CultureProject at 55 Mercer St in SoHo.
